This is my build of the venerable Airfix 1/600 scale kit of the HMS Campbelltown. I decided to build it as the USN flushdecker USS Badger in a 1930s fit. I used the kit specific parts from the White Ensign Models "Ultimate" Royal Navy Destroyer Set and WEM Railings. The photo-etch really does add a lot of great detail to this model but it is very delicate - handle with kid gloves. I replaced the kit funnels with ones I made from brass tubing and brass rod. I opened up the bridge and used some vertical ladder stock to make the windows, which I glazed with Krystal Klear. The flag bags were made from plastic stock as well as the forward gun shield. I detailed the guns with some etched hand wheels I had leftover from another project. The boats are WEM Pro 600 replacements - they may be not the correct types but they are light years better than the kit's offerings. The searchlights are spares from a Skywave kit I built and the look closer to 1/600 than 1/700. Decals are from the GMM 1/700 scale sheet. It has been a while since I have tried to improve upon an Airfix kit and it was quite satisfying to make it look fairly decent.
