This is a model of the WWII destroyer, USS Hughes DD-410. It was built from the Iron Shipwright 1/350 scale, USS Russell kit and modified slightly to make her into the Hughes. My father, Louis P. Swan, was aboard the Hughes in 1944 when she was struck by a kamikaze off the southern tip of Leyte.
