The cage-masted battleship USS California was sunk at Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7, 1941. Subsequently raised, she underwent a radical overhaul in which she gained 16 feet of beam and lost her distinctive cage masts. Jim Kloek's 1/350 scale model, built out of the box using the Iron Shipwright kit (now out of production) depicts California as she appeared prior to WW2. 

Compare Jim's fine work to the National Maritime Museum's (San Francisco) 1/48th scale USS California, built at Mare Island in 1923.
