I am a 32 years old industrial designer from Rome, Italy, living in Germany. This is my fourth scale model, but my great passion for naval weapon systems, marine warfare and military history goes back to many years ago.

The model is a Revell (Germany) version of the Arleigh Burke destroyer (plus vague instructions to a DDG-54 conversion), and is probably a reissue of the original Skywave kit with the addition of the lower hull.

I have used a PE fret from Flagship Models specific for the Arleigh Burke class and some Gold Medal Models PE details. Plus, the addition of many other scratch-built details using several techniques, until my patience ran over. As references I used a good book from Motorbooks Publishing, "Modern U.S. Navy Destroyers" and some great pictures from http://www.news.navy.mil.
