This is a Revell 1/72 scale model of U-625 that was sunk on March 10, 1944 off the coast of Ireland by Sunderland flying boat EK591 of 422 Squadron RCAF. My father, Frank Cauley, was the navigator aboard the Sunderland. I started this project in December 2005 as a present for my father, and presented the finished version to him on Christmas Day 2006. The boat is based on the Revell 1:72 VIIC U-boat. I consider this a major conversion project, since I had to modify the boat to make a 2-level bandstand conning tower. (This was all done before RoG released their VIIC/41 kit.) Numerous conversion and detail sets/parts were used, including the excellent Nautilus Models Wintergarten Conversion Set. Fit and finish of the Revell kit was excellent, and was really enhanced by all of the detail parts. White Ensign Models, Eduard, and other sets were used.
