This model of U-161 a Type IXc U-Boat was entirely scratch-built with the exception of the photo-etched railings. The original hull, conning tower and wintergarden were cast in rubbing molds so that resin copies could be used for this model. The conning tower and wintergarden railings were made from fine wire.
