This is a build of the WSW 1/700 SMS Derfflinger, as she appeared at the Battle of Jutland, 31 May 1916. Though top secret at the time, participants later revealed that the fleet painted the aft funnel red as an identification marking on that sortie.

The WSW Derfflinger is a magnificent model, with fine detailing and exquisite molding. GMM Ultra-fine railings were used, in addition to random parts from the WEM 1/700 Iron Duke PE set. Masts were built from copper tubing. The resin anchor chains and torpedo net booms were cut off and replaced using wire and fine chain. The deck was painted using numerous counter-washes of thinned Tamiya acrylic paint.
